The duo founded "KickStart Kids" in 1992. The he non-profit organization uses martial arts to help youth build character and achieve discipline.

"Martial arts is just a tool to instill in these kids the drive to succeed in life and developing the inner strength and discipline and respect that they need to succeed in life," says Norris.

Davila Middle School is the first Bryan I.S.D. campus to incorporate Kickstart Kids. In the short time of implementing the youth program, teachers and staff tell News 3 they are already seeing a positive outcome from students. Additionally, Navasota Junior High adopted the KickStart Program in August.

"We've been doing this now for 18 years and we've graduated 70,000 young people who many of them have gone off to college," says Norris.

Educators across the nation are trying to combat bullying, trying to convince students it is no longer a right of passage. "Bullying is an insecurity and so with martial arts you develop a security in yourself and so you don't have to prove anything to anybody."

Norris says he believes youth who feel the need to bully have "Lost their drive, they feel helpless, feel like they can't achieve and so with our program every morning we give a positive affirmation and as they continue repeating it, they believe it."

The Kick-It-Up For Kids fundraiser Saturday evening was held to help ensure the success and continuation of the program - visit for more information.
