There is a common theory in mixed martial Arts. The lower the weight, the more exciting the fight.

As you all know the UFC and WEC plan to merge in 2011.To the uneducated, This means that the UFC will have a seemingly endless roster as well as an addition of two new weight classes, but I can assure you itís much more than that. The UFC will have two new champions, a dozen more big names, and another pound for pound great. And most importantly, better fights.

This is great news for the MMA community and especially for casual fans. More and more people will be exposed to great talents and fights. Guys like Jose Aldo, Urijah Faber, Ben Henderson, Dominick Cruz, Miguel Torres, and Anthony Pettis will all become household namesÖ And thatís just the tip of the iceberg.

Come 2011 there will be an invasion of talent brought to the forefront of the MMA world on a scale we havenít seen since the UFC purchased pride. Itís going to change the very foundation of the sport and will catapult the UFC into monopoly like status. Although this merger is terrible news for smaller promotions, itís the best thing to happen to our sport. Soon your friends who know nothing of MMA will talk about Jose Aldo the way they talk about Anderson Silva. Dominick Cruz will also become a hot topic. The fact of the matter is this will change everythingÖ and I can hardly wait.

In my opinion this is the first major step in putting Mixed Martial Arts on the NFL scale.
