"I've got all sorts of guillotines, so I had to try a few of them out," he said.

In Benavidez and Fabiano, the match-up paired up the No. 3 and No. 7 bantamweights in the USA TODAY/SB Nation consensus rankings.

Fabiano and Benavidez stayed busy in the opening minutes by moving rapidly and trading strikes. But the second round saw Benavidez score a knockdown early to create an opening for his first guillotine attempt.

He stayed close and kept going for the choke until he finally secured a no-arm version to get the submission.
